We started a PreReview Club because we want to engage with open science projects and see reviews of preprints as a worthwhile activity alinged with our interests. Clubs publish open peer reviews, providing constructive feedback to their authors and the scholarly community. We believe that collaborating on a review will help us engage with more like-minded folks who share our interest in multilingual open science
No specific academic background or experience is required. All who would like to contribute constructive feedback are welcome, whether their perspective is academic, practitioner, consumer, or lived experience. We’re open to exploring the theme of multilingual open science from a variety of perspectives— barriers facing scholars for whom English isn’t a primary language, translation tools, translations of research outputs, even hosting reviews of preprints in languages other than English. Our hope for this project as well as for Translate Science overall is that the community we build can support the emergence of various projects that grow from our shared values and ways of working.
Club sessions will be organized between those that express interest, taking the form of a 90-minute online collaborative review.
